Jack Daniels Invitational & Degaque BBQ Contests...

                                                                                                                      December 2009

Dear BBQ Friend:

First, I would like to wish everybody Happy Holidays! I hope your smoked turkeys turned out OK - don't tell me you fried or roasted it in an oven! OK... I understand - my Mom and Sister like to cook their own turkeys and they like to do it their way. One of these days I'm going to do a video/mini contest and see which is better - a fried turkey or a slow smoked turkey. Speaking of videos... I plan on making a series of videos very soon that will show you how to cook competition quality barbecue in great detail. Nothing will be left out - from making the sauce to prepping the meat to preparing the turn-in boxes. Unfortunately, due to the high cost of making videos like this, they will not be free. I'm thinking about a paid membership site in which you will get ALL the details of how we won 4 Grand Championships last year. That's about a 50% win ratio. Not only will you get the detailed videos but there will also be features like a question and answer forum where you can ask me anything you want. This will be for backyarders and competitors too. Email me if you have any ideas as to what you would like to see in this "club".

Don't forget - Competition BBQ Secrets makes a great Christmas present for anyone who likes to barbecue!

We'll also have some really neat and unique BBQ Thermometers available next week. I'll send you a separate email about that next week.

Here's a video containing pictures of the 2009 Jack Daniels Invitational BBQ Contest. We got one call in brisket and won a bottle of Jack (25th overall). Congrats to I Que on their Grand and Jack's Old South for their Reserve. And to Bub-Ba-Q for their very respectable 3rd...

Here's a video with pictures of the 2009 Degaque BBQ contest at Talladega Speedway. We were 24th overall with 2 calls in chicken and pork. Congrats to I Smell Smoke for Grand and Great Grills O'Fire for Reserve...

Happy Holidays!
